Kyuseido Kosumi FS Akari

from $650.00

The Kyuseido Kosumi FS is the second fountain pen model from Kyuseido. “Kosumi” is the name of a move from the ancient game of Go, played as an extension of a previous move. The Kyuseido Kosumi FS features a 9 faceted cap design, introducing brutalist design to the elegant round barrel.

The Kyuseido Kosumi FS Akari is part of our exploration of the liminal hours from dusk to dawn. The name “Akari”, which means lamp in Japanese, takes its inspiration from the gas street lamps that came to represent Japanese industrialisation during the Meiji and Taisho periods. The warmth from these lamps would light up the night and illuminate the growing cities of Japan in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

This version of the Kyuseido Kosumi FS uses PEI, also known by the trade name “Ultem”, to achieve a significantly lighter weight than the titanium versions of our flagship pens. PEI is known for its superior thermal stability, chemical resistance, and material strength. The cap and piston knob are made with black PEI, while the barrel is made with transparent yellow PEI, all polished to high gloss. The section is made with titanium and finished with a black PVD coating. As with all of our Kyuseido Kosumi FS, this version is outfit with our proprietary 14k nib and ebonite feeder. This version of the Kyuseido Kosumi FS comes with a gold colour nib to match the pen body.
